Running a restaurant or café
Choosing the Restaurant & Café business type turns your dashboard into a restaurant command room: a POS for orders, a live kitchen display, a floor plan of tables, a menu with service windows, and ingredients that move with every order. This guide walks you through each.

1.The Restaurant & Café type reshapes your dashboard
Your business type decides your tools: with “Restaurant & Café” the dashboard is shaped for food service — the POS, the kitchen display, restaurant floor operations, and ingredients and recipes that run automatically — without retail tools a kitchen never needs.
2.The POS & the kitchen display
The POS takes dine-in and takeaway orders, and every order appears the moment it lands on the kitchen display: a live board with clear columns — waiting, in preparation, and ready & served.
- “Start preparation” moves the order into the prep column; “Mark ready” moves it to serving.
- The status flow — waiting, in preparation, ready, served — is enforced on the server, so no order skips a step or goes missing.
3.Tables, zones & transferring orders
Under “Restaurant operations”, the floor plan tab is where you add tables and drag them around the plan, divide the room into zones, and give every table an assigned staff member and an internal note.
- Each table’s status is in your hands: free, occupied, reserved or out of service — and when guests leave, set it back to free in the same place.
- A table-bound order transfers to a free table from the “Transfer order” list — including website table orders still waiting for a real table.
- The reservations tab gathers dining reservations in time order, and you can open or close reservation intake for your store.
4.The menu: service windows & nutrition
From the kitchen & menu tab, set each item’s kitchen station and its availability window — breakfast only, for example — so storefront customers cannot order it outside that time.
Every item also carries a card shown to the customer on the product page: calories, preparation time in minutes, and dietary tags you write yourself — such as “vegetarian” — displayed under dietary information.
5.Ingredients & recipes run themselves
Link each item to a recipe of ingredients with a set quantity per unit, and every order deducts the ingredients from stock automatically as a “recipe consumption” movement, while recipe cost updates from the ingredients’ average costs — nothing typed by hand.
The stock movements tab follows what comes in and what goes out, and the suppliers & purchase orders tab lets you raise ingredient purchase orders with your suppliers from the same screen.
6.The type’s limits — honestly
Restaurant & Café is built for live service, so its dashboard carries no “Returns” module — a deliberate design decision, not a temporary gap.
