Categories and store organization

Categories split your store into clear sections shoppers move between. This guide covers creating them, ordering them, attaching products and controlling how they appear on your store.

1.What categories do

A category is a section grouping similar products — for example “Hot drinks” or “T-shirts”. It is not just internal bookkeeping: categories are the backbone of browsing on your online store.

  • The menu page of your store shows your categories as browsing buttons shoppers hop across to find products faster.
  • Each category appears as a filter with its product count, so shoppers know what is inside before tapping.
  • A categorized product leads shoppers on to a page of similar items, which helps the sale.

2.Add a new category

  1. From the dashboard open “Products” then “Categories”.
  2. Press “Add category”.
  3. Write the Arabic category name — it is required; add an English name too for international shoppers.
  4. Pick a fitting icon for the section if you like.
  5. Leave it active and save — it appears on the store immediately.

3.Ordering and visibility

Categories appear on the store in the order you set: drag them into place on the category management page so your most important sections come first. What you arrange is what shoppers see.

  • Deactivating a category hides it from the store instantly without deleting it — handy for seasonal offers that ended.
  • Reactivating brings it back with its products and position intact.
  • You can search categories by name on long lists, and counters at the top show total, active and inactive counts.

4.Attaching products to categories

In the product editor pick the “Primary category” of the product, and you can also attach it to several categories at once — a “Mango juice” can live under both “Juices” and “Cold drinks”.

5.Category count by plan

Categories are included from the free plan — you start right away with no upgrade. The ceiling widens as your plan level rises.
