Options and variants (sizes and colors)

If a product comes in more than one form — sizes, colors or materials — variants are the answer: every combination becomes its own sellable unit with its own price and stock, without duplicating the product.

On this page

1.When to use variants

When the differences need their own price or quantity — a T-shirt in sizes and colors, sneakers in sizes, a cake in small and large — enable variants. If the choice is a simple add-on such as “no onions” or “extra cheese”, product extras covered in the products article fit better.

2.Defining options and values

  1. Set up your store options first on the catalog configuration page: sizes, colors, materials and brands with their values — preloaded for your business type.
  2. In the product editor, switch on the sizes-and-colors matrix (Variants).
  3. In the product attributes section, tick the values that apply to this product — for example sizes M and L in black and white.

3.Generating the combination matrix

After ticking the values, press “Generate matrix from attributes” and YallaBuy creates every possible combination as a new variant row. You can also add one row by hand with “Add variant” for a special combination.

  • Generation only appends new combinations — rows you already filled in are never touched.
  • Any generated combination can be deleted on its own, exactly like a manual row.
  • Generation handles up to 100 combinations at a time; for more, reduce the ticked values or generate in batches.

4.Per-variant details

Every combination gets its own row in the matrix that you control completely:

FieldWhat it does
Size, color and nameThe combination description the shopper sees when choosing.
SKUA unique code per variant that speeds up POS search and stock-takes.
Price overrideA price specific to this variant instead of the base price — a larger size can cost more.
Compare-at priceShows a discount on the variant with the original price struck through.
Stock quantityThe amount available of this exact combination.
Low-stock thresholdA per-variant alert — left empty it falls back to the product default.
Cost pricePrivate to you as the owner; customers never see it.

5.Separate stock per combination

Stock is tracked at the variant level, not the product level: the editor totals stock across variants, and the product list shows exactly which size or color is running low and how many pieces remain.

  • A sold-out combination stops selling on its own while the product stays visible with its other sizes — no need to hide the whole product.
  • From inventory you can receive or count variants directly and top up one specific size.
  • Shoppers only see available combinations, so an out-of-stock size cannot be ordered.
